Kid’s World & Cafe in Algonquin IL

[Reading time: 5 mins]

Are you looking for an indoor play cafe to bring your littles too? Kid’s World & Cafe is worth the visit.

There are many times throughout the year where my daughter has a swim meet or riding show or another activity that her brothers would NOT enjoy sitting through; so that leaves the other parent trying to find somewhere to entertain the 3 boys!

I know when I’m on my own with any of the kids, I always look for a place where they can run around in a contained area, that’s easy for me to keep an eye on all of them, while still being able to sit back and relax. That’s why when I came across Kid’s World & Cafe in Algonquin, I knew it would be worth the 40 minute drive to check it out!

Arriving to the play cafe.

Getting to Kid’s World & Cafe is fairly easy, but even better is the easy and close parking to the door. This is especially important to me when I am on my own and have multiple kids with me. It’s astounding how many indoor playgrounds I’ve been to, where you have to cross busy parking lots or even take stairs to get to the entrance.

Once you go inside the play cafe, you will immediate be at the admission desk and an area to take off everyone’s shoes and coats. It is a bit small of an foyer, and I can see it maybe getting too tight and hard to walk through if it was a busy time, but when we got there, it was easy enough to get everyone situated and not be in anyone’s way.

A small but wide open space.

Once you get past the admission entrance, it opens up to a wide open space with a lot of tables to eat at and then the actual indoor play area.

I loved that there was no official gate or enclosure from the cafe to the play space. You do want to make sure that no food gets into the play area, but having it open and not separated from each other, made it a lot easier to be in close proximity to my kids and easy to get to them if something happened.

In lieu of a gate in between the two areas, there are very comfortable couches to relax on and small side tables next to them to sit your coffee down. In fact, when I came here, I was able to sit back and work on my blog, while the kids safely ran around and played.

The actual play space.

Like most indoor playgrounds, the play space at Kid’s World & Cafe has a lot of imaginative play and of course, a small gross motor playset. For imaginative play, there is a grocery checkout, a small kitchen, a play house and a make-believe baby area. There is also a train table, which of course my older son loved, and an enclosed baby play area, that is perfect for those little crawlers and waddlers who need their own space away from the big kids.

The playset was nice - lots of places to climb and has two large slides, but I do feel that it was probably a bit too big and hard to go on for toddlers. The play space also has two of those roller coaster rides, which my kids love to do [we also have 2 of them at home], but it does make me a little apprehensive to have them in a play place, because the kids can easily slam into another child when riding it.

Overall, the play area is fairly minimal, but to me, this is a good thing, because it keeps the space open and uncluttered, allowing kids to explore safely. I think it also successfully keeps the little visitors from getting too rowdy and overly excited. Instead, all the kids seem to play very nicely around each other and are enjoying all the imaginative play.

Have a meal.

Indoor play places that have a cafe are always a huge plus for me. After running around and having too much fun, the kids always need to have a nice and nutritious meal to reenergize them.

In addition to the delicious latte I had, Kid’s World & Cafe also serves made-to-order paninis, apples & carrots for the kids, fresh fruit smoothies and so much more! The one menu item I do feel they’re lacking, is milk for the kids. But other than that, there are some great choices and my kids loved their lunch!

I also can’t reiterate enough, how the open layout was perfect for eating. I was able to order all our food and wait for it close by, while still being near my kids. The kids also didn’t have to stop playing to wait for their food; they were able to enjoy the play space until everything was ready for them on the table.

What ages is Kid’s World & Cafe good for?

I believe Kid’s World & Cafe is best for ages 0-5yo. At the time we went, my boys were 5 and 2 years old. My 2 year olds had a blast; my 5yo has a good time too, but he did express at times that he was getting bored and I think at that age, the gross-motor focused type of places are better equipped for him [ie: inflatables, trampolines, etc]. I also think, had I brought my 7.5yo daughter here, she also would have had fun, but probably wouldn’t want to stay too long. Nicely put, my toddlers could spend at least a couple of hours here, but my older two would be good with 1hr.

With that said, Kid’s World & Cafe is PERFECT for the little ones! With the amount of jump houses, trampoline parks and adventure play places there are, I truly love going to these more quiet and imaginative play cafes instead, so I can let my kids explore without worrying about the more rowdy and older kids running over them.
