I’ve already showcased the amazing local libraries that have imaginative play areas and educational programs and events for kids. But what about library cafes? These popular facilities offer another wonderful amenity for us parents that just want to be able to sit back and have a refreshment while our kids let out some energy.

Located on the 1st floor of the Addison Public Library, the café is run by students in the District 88 Transition Program, which helps individuals ages 18 to 21 learn life skills, get job training opportunities in the community and transition to a life of independence. Open Mon-Thurs, 9:00a-12:00p, when school is in session.

Kids birthday club specials and virtual cook-along demonstrations by their very own Chef Rob, are only a couple examples of what makes this place so special to the local community.

Located on the main level of the St. Charles Public Library, the Daily Bean serves PapaNicholas hot & iced coffee, teas and snacks. The coffee shop is staffed by District 303 students in the transition program, between the ages of 18-22, and is open during the school year on weekdays from 1015a-1p.
